Well for the people who were thinking that I have stopped writing about makeup products here is a big surprise for them. First of all I would like to say that writing reviews and the fair ones need some time for testing and proper evaluation of every aspect. I have not posted review on any makeup foundation for some time because I was testing and enjoying one of it. After a nice experience with Maybelline fit me foundation I opted to write for another new brand. This time it is not Mac or Nars foundations, it is the makeup forever HD foundation.


The Makeup Forever HD Foundation is truly a heavenly choice for the makeup geeks. The foundation is best known for its highly invisible coverage and high-definition of shades. Over the years, I’ve seen a number of professional makeup artists using this foundation as their high-end product for its extremely flawless and natural-looking coverage. The day since I became addicted to swatches, I have used a number of foundations but truly I have never found any product that could replace the invisible and immaculate coverage of Makeup Forever HD Foundation.

I have been using this product for more than 2 months I guess but honestly I have never had any problem settling down with this foundation. Before writing this review, I must add that sometimes it is not the product that fails to settle down, instead its people themselves who either don’t apply it properly or fail to settle with the product after first few attempts. In the end, if the product fails to conceal all their facial flaws like blemishes, fine lines, skin pores or freckles, they end up bragging bad remarks about the product. One of the biggest reasons is people do not pay attention to the ingredients and they do not know if they have oily skin or dry skin or the combination type. This usually ends up in a disastrous experience and people start hating the product for no good reasons.

Instead of creating more controversies and making you ladies puzzled with another article full of mixed reviews, I am trying my best to share my experience (or I must say my honest opinion) about Makeup Forever HD Foundation. A New Experience with Makeup Forever HD Foundation 

Being a blogger and makeup geek, I share my own standards and limitations to whether I should wear or wash away any product. But that comes only after I’ve properly applied the product and have given enough time to settle down and if it’s a yes then I definitely add the product in my Holy Grail collection.

The day I became obsessed with the swatches, I’ve always leaned down towards two makeup brands for their high-end swatches, primers, powders and foundations. Since I’m not associated with these brands but my addiction with the high-definition of shades and perfect coverage has always made me fall for Nars and Mac but this time it’s the Makeup Forever Brand.

And please do not confuse it with the fact that high definition and invisible coverage are the only two aspects for my obsession with these brands. I do also admire their luscious shades, matchless textures, blending ability with different skin complexions, and obviously the consistency that makes it a must to buy product. All these features nominate Makeup Forever HD Foundation to be the product worth spending money for.

Not the Real World HD! 

Let’s not forget the fact that on this competitive commercial world everybody wants a piece of pie. It might not just be the advertisements or celebrity endorsements that are manipulating your thoughts but it is also the technology that’s playing with your minds. It may sound weird to you at the first point but with in the modern advertisement world, the manufacturers rely heavily on using technical phrases and use them as their unique selling perspectives. By using terminologies like (HD, Ultra-protection), it has now become easier for brands to manifest their products as glow-boosting, light diminishing, ultra-conditioning and oil free in nature. It might be true at some extent, but again you’ll have to do a bit of research or test the product by yourself to ascertain whether these are legit or false claims.

Forever HD Foundation’s Packaging

 
 

The Makeup forever HD foundation comes with a reasonable packaging, not very stylish but satisfactory in terms of carrying and travelling. Its sleek bottle is easy to carry and handle and fits almost anywhere inside my makeup kit. One downside of the packaging is its plastic cap which sometimes becomes real mess to handle the product. With the help of pump dispenser, it takes me 1 ½ or sometimes 2 pumps of product to cover my entire face. On the other side, the plastic cap is less sturdy or I’d say uneasy to handle and sometimes gets cracked from the sides of the bottle. In case, if you’re ok with spending a little extra to save your efforts, then I’d suggest you to buy a pump dispenser. It will not only help you squeeze out the right amount of product but will also prevent the undesired wastage and over-spilling of product.

The formula of Makeup Forever HD foundation is a blend of water and silicone, free from oil and grease that makes it perfect for all skin types. Its formula blends superbly and causes no skin breakouts, plus! Having an oil-free formula, the product does not only prevent oil buildup but it also prevents clogging of skin pores. The best thing about this product is that anyone from the age of 16 to 46 can wear this foundation. It evenly manifests on both dry and sensitive skin and cause no itches or skin irritations. Still I must recommend you to check its ingredients to prevent reactions of skin breakouts before applying the product.

Medium to Full Coverage

The Makeup Forever HD foundation gives a flawless medium to full coverage. Just one layer of gentle application with neutralizes the blemishes and conceals the redness on your skin. Plus adding the two fine layers will cover all your facial flaws like freckles, fine lines, acne scars, and even the dark spots.

Easily Blendable

The Makeup forever HD Foundation’s best part is the ease of blendability, it is easily buildable on your skin with a perfect finishing altogether.

Disappointing Lasting Power

The foundation barely lasts for more than 4 to 5 hours, I have tried it mostly at night and I am frankly astounded by this fact. The foundation starts breaking your skin after a few hours even after settling it properly with face powder and settling spray. This is where Revlon Colorstay is still the best because of its amazing lasting power without hassles of settling sprays or powders.

How to Apply Makeup Forever HD Foundation (Recommendations for different skin types)

The texture of Makeup forever HD foundation is so light that it feels like your second skin. Even you can feel its soft, smooth and fluid texture gliding seamlessly on your skin. The product gives a nourishing, hydrating, and completely moisturizing feel if applied evenly and properly on skin. If you’re really good at working with the foundations then I must recommend you to use either stippling brush or air brush for more air-whipped texture.

For Dry Skin

Makeup forever HD foundation can work well with dry skin (not completely dry as patches). But before applying the product you’ll have to cleanse your skin with a water/silicon based primer (one which I mentioned above). Do apply the moisturizer with the cleanser to make a gentle surface on your skin. This will not only help absorb the foundation but will glide like heaven on your skin.

Note: If you’re dealing with drier skin that gets cakey and flakey in normal conditions, I’d tell you not to try this product.  Why? Because this foundation might cause your skin to breakout, in worst conditions it might also settle down on your skin pores causing you skin irritations.

For Normal and Combination skin 

For women having normal to oily skin, I’d recommend you to treat your skin with a good SPF moisturizer before applying the product. You can use a full cover concealer as the base coat of your makeup to hide minor flaws of your skin. Adding a concelaer will not only hide your facial flaws but will also provide a soft, lighter and more natural base to apply foundation seamlessly and flawlessly on your skin.

For Oily skin 

You’ll have to work quite hard before applying this product if you have an oily skin that become greasy too quickly and leaves a shiny glare around midday. If you want this foundation to stay longer on its place then you’ll have to wear mattifying primers under the first layer of foundation. The product neither leaves a shiny glare in photography sessions nor in front of the naked eye. For added protection to control the product on your skin, you can apply a single coat of concealer to make the product look more natural. Though I’ve had several experiments with the makeup finishing sprays, Makeup Setting Sprays, blotting sheets, and Beauty Blenders and they’ve turned out to be excellent in setting the products on my face.

You can also try the following foundations as forever HD’s dupe but you would be missing a few or more qualities. You can try these foundations as an alternative but this does not mean that they are a perfect replacement for Forever HD foundation.

The Makeup Forever HD Foundation comes with a 30 ml bottle which can easily last for 6 months even if you carry the product on regular basis. But considering the price, I must say it’s on a nominal side. A single bottle of Makeup forever HD foundation might cost you around $40-$45 depending upon the place you’re purchasing it from. Lucky for me, as I got it as a gift from my brother :) (although I asked him for this one), you can try online stores to find the best price, there are some people selling it on Amazon too make sure to check them out too.
