Revlon Colorstay Warm Golden- 310 In my hand

This post has been republished again with some updated findings but the rest of review is the same. Revlon Colorstay foundation is still one of the popular makeup foundations and its still immensely popular in Philippines, Australia and United Kingdom.

Revlon ColorStay™ Makeup is one of the trendiest makeup foundations ever introduced in the market. The product claims to offer a longwearing coverage that can be easily buildable to full or medium coverage without any caking. The foundation offers a matte finish with oil control formula designed for oily skins. Revlon ColorStay Foundation is available in 20 different shades
, especially designed for longwearing light coverage that claims to last for up to twenty four hours. I have tried its Golden Warm (310) Shade and going to share my review on it, one more thing this review is not for Revlon Colorstay makeup with Softflex. The Softflex version is a new edition to Revlon's line of foundations but I have tried its simple version. Although, I am not a big fan of liquid foundations though I usually prefer MAC Pro Longwear Foundation but Revlon’s ColorStay Foundation is a beauty in its own caliber. I bought it a few weeks ago from a local drugstore, where after a bit of thinking I decided to go for Revlon’s ColorStay Warm Golden Shade #310- SPF6 [Combination/Oily Skin].

Testing on skin: Revlon Colorstay Warm Golden foundation

My Review

Revlon says it is a lightweight, although I found it better than its counterparts in the market but MAC and NARS offer foundations lighter than this. Revlon ColorStay is a beautiful foundation if you are living in a hot or humid region, I do not know if it is going to work the same in cold regions. I used it for two weeks just to test it for enough time; it does not come with any pump, so you have to either use a brush or your fingers to apply it. It dries up pretty quickly so you can face problems in blending it, I prefer to use my fingers to apply it. One more thing I had a bit tacky kind of feeling when I first used on my face.

Do not use it like other foundations, apply on one area at a time or you will end up caking your face as it quickly dries out. You can also try a damp sponge to apply this foundation. It has a slight tinge of pinkish colour in it which is a bit odd for me as I opted for warm golden, so it is supposed to be more yellowish in colour. The best part about this foundation is its longer lasting prowess that impressed me a lot, it stayed for more than 8 hours and never showed a sign of breakout throughout my trial period. The coverage of Colorstay foundation is phenomenal too, with its semi-matte finish, although it shows up a bit on your face under indoor lighting but in the natural light it looked perfect on me, you can also try Revlon Photoready foundation for a perfect night look, courtesy it's shiny particles.

Revlon Colorstay Foundation is an excellent choice for a person with oily skin. You would need to use a face cleanser to remove it as it does not vanish quickly with a regular wash. Overall the product has some pros and cons too, in my opinion it is a beautiful product under a small budget.

Good Stuff About This Foundation

  • The coverage of this foundation is amazing; if you are looking for a medium to full coverage with a semi-matte finish then this one is for you.
  • An ideal choice for natural makeup because of its matte coverage, if you prefer natural makeup you are going to like this beauty with a thin coat.
  • The longer lasting claim on the label is up to the mark, this foundation has never disappointed me with its longer lasting capability, especially in hot and humid region it’s a perfect choice to go for especially for day use.
  • It protects your oily skin so you won’t have a greasy feel; kind of works like protection film on your skin with a very thin layering that never cakes on your face.
  • The foundation stayed for almost 8 hours on my skin without any breakouts; you need to use the cleanser to remove longer lasting foundations like this.
  • This foundation is an ideal choice if most of your work is outdoor.
  • The shade range is better for dark skin tones.

Bad Stuff About This Foundation

  • It has a slight pinkish tinge in its colour that can be visible under indoor premises; so not the idealistic golden shade for me as it showed signs like a bit chalky in front of mirror.
  • Revlon ColorStay is a lightweight foundation but if you have used lightweight products from MAC and L’Oreal you might not find it lightest.
  • It has a strong smell like paint or something, so it can be irritating to sensitive lasses.
  • It dries up rather quickly so you will find it difficult to blend, so you have to choose one spot at a time or you will end up caking it on your face.
  • It does not come with a pump like usual liquid based foundations in market, so you have to be extra careful while applying it.
  • The formula is designed for oily skin so it can end up slightly clogging your pores.
  • The Colorstay foundation range does not offer a wide variety of shades.
  • The medium coverage cannot be ideal for skin with acne scars, so going for a full coverage always make it messier.

Recommendation

I would personally rate Revlon ColorStay Warm Golden-310 foundation 7 out of 10, Yes its long lasting foundation but No it’s not the lightest weight foundation ever, although it is my personal opinion about this foundation but you can still try this, as it is not an expensive one. I have written this review about the oily skin foundation (SPF-6) without softflex so if you have a dry skin, don’t try it; it will be oddly visible on your face.
